Meet Jonathan Mitchell, LHS Interim Principal

Jonathan Mitchell, LHS Interim Principal portrait.

Mitchell assumed the position of LHS Assistant Principal in 2019. He also served as the Interim Principal of LHS during the 2021-2022 school year.

Mitchell began his teaching career at LHS in 2012 as a long-term Speech and Language Substitute Teacher. In 2013 he was hired as the LHS Life Skills Teacher, a position he held until his appointment as the AP in 2019.

As both a teacher and an administrator Mitchell has fostered a culture of collaboration as the key to creating successful teachers and students.

“I strongly believe teachers and students drive the train. As an administrator, I work to ensure both teachers and students feel they have a voice. I strive to create an environment within the building where human to human interactions take place, regardless of your role within the school community.”

Mitchell earned his B. S. in Communication Disorders with a minor in Rehab and Disability Studies from Springfield College. His MEd in Assistive Technology and Human Services was earned through California State University at Northridge and his Administrative Certification from the MSAA Leadership Licensure Program through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

He is a proud member of the Western New England Football Officials Association, officiating college football games in the Northeast 10 Conference.

Mitchell and his wife Sara have been married for 5 years and are parents to their one year old son Theo. Their family will be ‘officially’ expanding when the adoption process is finalized for their 9 year old son Hoyt.
